We purchased this with the intention of getting
rid of our satellite service. We don't regret it at all, in fact we watch a lot
of stuff that we would not have normally sought out. We have Amazon Prime and
Hulu as well as a bunch of the free channels loaded. We will probably add
Netflix at some point but for our typical 10-12 hours of TV viewing a week we
aren't too worried about it. There are a few shows that we have to go to the
networks website (Survivor and Amazing Race) and can't get it on our Roku but
we cut our costs by more than $100 a month so it doesn't really bother us that
much.
The kids choose a lot of the Discovery Channel
shows and we are finding that they aren't watching the same show on repeat like
they did with the DVR. The commercials don't impact the kids the same way, we have
a lot less requests for toys seen on TV.
The Roku 3 delivers the best experience in 1080p HD streaming to your TV—plus motion-based gaming for an extra dose of great entertainment. Includes one-stop search across top channels like Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video; a free app for iOS and Android; and a full complement of connectivity options.
The interface is getting a little easier to use
and is improving with new search features and such. I do wish I could use it to
surf the net but that will have to be done on one of our game systems for now.
Well worth it.
